چکیده
Abstract This paper develops a novel, functionalist, unified account of the epistemic normativity reasoning. On this view, norms drop out functions. I argue that practical reasoning serves prudential function generating prudentially permissible action, and knowledge what one ought to do. picture, if right, goes long way towards normatively divorcing action At same time, it unifies epistemically: theoretical will turn be governed by norm—knowledge—in virtue serving function: conclusion.

Reasoning about Student Knowledge and Reasoning
A basic feature of Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS) is their ability to represent domain knowledge that can be attributed to the student at each stage of the learning process. In this paper we present a general (first order logic) framework for the representation of this kind of knowledge acquired by the system through the analysis of the student answers. This represantation makes it possible...

IEEE INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS Except perhaps for the AI naysayers, AI practitioners are creators—of software artifacts, their underlying algorithms, and their underlying theories. We begin our feature with Herbert Simon, one of our three contributors (together with John McCarthy and Oliver Selfridge) who are our links to the landmark Dartmouth conference in 1956, where modern AI is often said to hav...

It also introduces propositional logic, which is a good background for first-order logic. • What we cover here is mai...
متن کاملReasoning about proof and knowledge
In previous work [Lewitzka, 2017], we presented a hierarchy of classical modal logics, along with algebraic semantics, for the reasoning about intuitionistic truth (i.e. proof), belief and knowledge. Interpreting as a proof predicate, the systems also express properties of intuitionistic belief and knowledge established in [Artemov and Protopopescu, 2016] where epistemic principles are in line ...
متن کاملConfiguration Knowledge Representation and Reasoning
Configuration models specify the set of possible configurations (solutions). A configuration model togetherwith a defined set of (customer) requirements are themajor elements of a configuration task (problem). In this chapter, we discuss different knowledge representations that can be used for the definition of a configuration model. We provide examples that help to further develop the understa...
